The last few days I have gone into work sick one of those days I attempted to call out because I could barely stand I had also scheduled a doctors appointment that same day and went into work after. Today I went into work also sick I have not been able to keep food down so I haven’t been eating, and my job is a standing job. Not only did I go in sick I vomited numerous times. In the workplace do they have to have enough workers to cover sick calls?

Sorry, it’s sort of a long story:

I’m a college student and I was on on my way to my morning class and I was riding my bike on the sidewalk because that’s what I’ve always done and what most people around campus do, I wasn’t speeding, but this guy was kind of in the middle of the sidewalk more on the left side and I slowed down and I thought he heard that I was coming so i moved to the right because there was more space but then all of a sudden he stepped to the right and I ran right into him. The front of my bike made a gash in his calf. I rushed him to my apartment, trying to call the campus police to give us a ride when my roommate showed up and we drove him to the medical center. I stayed waiting while he went in, he ended up getting 7 stitches, and helped him out and his friend even gave me a ride back to my apartment. I told him that I felt really bad and would pay for the co-pay on all the medical bills and if his insurance wouldn’t cover it, I’d pay the bills too and we agreed to wait until all the procedures were done so I could pay all of it at once.

So he went in for a few appointments after, to get the stitches removed and everything. Then he came to me with all the bills that came out to 520 dollars. He complained a little about how he had to miss a week of class, but I was there and the nurses gave him crutches and said he could get around fine. We both have the same insurance plan through the university and I told him the insurance should probably cover everything. So I paid him the co-pay and said I’d look into how much his insurance would cover. I called the office and they said everything was 100% covered by the insurance. So, I called him, left a message saying all the bills were taken care of and that again I was really sorry.

He called me right now saying the wound had reopened a little and that he had to go back in to get things fixed. Then he said he wanted to demand payment for personal loss because he lost a week of school, now had a scar, and that it wasn’t his responsibility and his insurance had covered his damage that I had caused.

So now I’m scared and confused. Can he sue me? I was doing some research online and it said that sometimes if a person had insurance their company would cover the money but then would come after me to regain their money, but we have the SAME insurance company so how does that work? would they want me to pay for it out of my pocket(because that’s money that i don’t have!!)?
What is the best way to resolve this situation?

I’m not sure if it would vary state by state, but we live in Maine. Wednesday evening, my friends father fell from a bridge into the river below. Life Flight was called in to look for him with the search lights, the Coast Guard was there, Police, State Troopers etc. A dive team found his body the following day. Will she be held responsible for the cost of recovering his body? She is his only child, and considered next of kin.

Like a lot of businesses, we record customer phone calls to ensure quality. We use a third party to handle the monitoring and there is a debate internally as to weather we need to append our Internet privacy policy to reflect this, or not. Some say yes, others say phone calls are technically covered by a website policy. Any advice or suggested references I might be able to check would be appreciated.

ok, here how it goes, it’s all about the Merchant of Venice play, a guy called Antonio made a bond to Shylock to return his money after three months or else the penalty is 1 POUND OF HIS FLESH… in the court they considered it a indirect attempt to murder. is that right in law? thx.

Is it the employees or is it managements?
Because I work at this new job, and I keep getting calls (even on days I’m already working) of girls being like:
“Hey, I need a huge favour. I’ve got the flu and I was wondering if you could please cover my shift.”
It seems odd to me that these employees are needing to get their shift covered when they are sick. I feel that this is managements duty.
But what does the law say?

I was informed that under Michigan’s Workers Comp law, injury at work doesn’t have to be work related. Anyone by exprience know the details under MI’s WC law, what type of injury at the the workplace is covered or not covered?

Also, is the employer responsible for offering aid when an employee is badly injured at work? i.e. Calling an ambulance or taking an employee to the hospital?

I’m researching this for my mom who is 63 and ended up with a compression fracture of her vertebrate.

Thanks in advance.

My hubby is adopting my son. My ex was listed on the BC but he is not the father. I have no idea who the father really is. The ex knows he is not the father and hasn’t seen my son since he was a month old. Lawyer said I had to call my ex to have him come to her office to sign rights away. I am terrified of this man…extremely abusive. I made the calls against by better judgement and told the ex he was done with his part b/c the lawyers said that was all that is needed from him. Now 2 months before we are done the lawyer decided he should sign yet another form that is already covered in the first one. Her reason is to be just more clear about everything. Knowing I **** this man and wish never to have anything to do with him she says I have to call him again to make more arrangments. Isn’t that pat of her job? Shouldn’t she be doing all this? Isn’t that part of the reason hubby and I are paying her?
