JustWondering asked:

So i’m studying for the Series 7 exam and (of course) I am having a little problems with options. Basically I don’t understand why one would choose a covered call over a protective put, and vise versa. Both methods are bullish strategies where the options purchase hedges against downside risk.

When would I use one over the other? Usually if a question appears on a practice exam, both options would be given. In my opinion, i would always go with a protective put because it has an unlimited gain potential.

I have the same confusion for a protective call v. covered put.

mud pie asked:

the floor seal on my toilet must have been leaking for some time undetected. it has now rotted the floor and floor joists in the bathroom. Also there is mold in the wood. I will have to remove part of the walls to get the tub out to repair the wet floor boards, I already removed the toilet. Is this type of damage covered by homeowners insurance? I don’t want to call the insurance company and raise an eye brow until I have an idea if I am covered but it is far worse than I originally estimated and It is going to be costly to fix it right.

Our property owners association has a ballot and cover letter. The cover letter calls for a LIMITED PROXY to be given to our association president; The ballot it says we are giving our PROXY VOTE to our president. Could there not be a problem in how the proxy vote is used because of the two different words?

jiil bean asked:

The building contractor has been paid in full (which was a bad move) and I feel he doesn’t have any incentive to come back and finish the job, plus take care of things that weren’t done right the first time. FYI – the job was to put all new windows in the home, cover the home in new siding, put a new metal roof on the home, and a few other extra things. We have had siding pieces that just fall off (no wind or rain that would have ripped it off). It just simply fell off. Their answer to repairing it, is to just use screws. The screws are put in on the outside of the siding and are exposed. It doesn’t look right.

The contractor and the siding company are ignoring my calls and I don’t know what to do. HELP!
