I know in one case the trader already owns stock while in the other case they do not but I do not quite understand why someone writing a short call would profit if the market moves down while someone writing a covered call would profit if the market moves up…
Thanks for any help.

Im a new mommy and have many questions! I delivered my baby August 22 and before I was discharged from the hospital I was told that my baby needs to go to a peditrician to get a hearing test, which is done again at one week after they are born. My husband has United Health Care which is the insurance that I used at the hospital, but Im confused because I dont know if my baby is also covered or not? Is she automatically added on after she was born? Or do I have to call to add her? Sorry for my ignorance, please help!

Etrade only allows “covered calls” for their “level 1″ options traders. As far as I know, covered calls are writing (shorting) calls, right?
Why would that be what etrade makes available to introductory options traders? That is the only options position which has potentially unlimited loss, is it not?
Long call and long put (buying) have potential loss up to the premium while short put (writing) have potential loss up to the value of the stock..
If I have something wrong please point it out to me. Otherwise, can you explain why etrade is like this?
Furthermore, can you recommend a broker which would allow me to BUY calls and puts out of the gate?
Thanks!

I can explain: I have stock rims (not alloy, just the ones that you put a cover on them) … and my plastic covers are a little old but Idk what are they called to search them up on ebay or something.
Note: Im not looking for the rim, I’m looking for the plastic plate you put ontop of the rim to make it look nicer, whats that called?
I found it, wheelcovers, oh hubcaps too, thanks !!
